The best advent resources for your family.
I love Christmas - but really what I mean by that statement is I love all the days leading up to Christmas. The excitement, gift-giving, cookie baking counting down days to Christmas.
One of my favorite things to do as a family is celebrate the season of Advent while teaching our kids to remember Jesus' birth but also anticipate his second coming. I also chose a reading plan each advent for my personal devotional time but there are SO many great resources to study advent as a family.

Here are a few of the resources we use every Christmas;
Ann Voskamp’s Wonder of the Greatest Gift: an interactive family celebration of advent.
If you don’t know who Ann Voskamp then we can't be friends.... Her writing is beautiful, her heart is for Jesus and her resources are amazing. This is a newer book in our home but we absolutely love the short yet meaningful readings and the beautiful tree we get to decorate each day. This is by far my favourite advent resource.
This is a new resource I just found this year and it’s amazing! (especially if you are homeschooling of some sort). This PDF is full of learning and scripture, crafts and activities for kids of all ages. (select your age group at checkout). This one will be well used - especially the crafts and activities!
I am a huge She/He/Kids Read Truth fan because they are a true bible centred company focusing on getting families into His word every single day. These cards are great for breakfast or supper time with the kids to help them hear the story from the Bible and apply it with some simple questions - so kid (and adult) friendly.
Night before Advent Scavenger Hunt
This is a sweet free resource from Ann Voskamp to do the night before Advent and is perfect for this weird Covid time. Hop in the car and go light searching for all kinds of different lights AND have great car conversations ALONG the way.
Again, big kid’s read truth fan over here! These ornaments have been a staple in our house for a few years so, this year, we have dedicated one of our trees (yes, I have multiple trees and no I’m not ashamed) to these ornaments. Again, these ornaments countdown the days until Christmas by telling the story of Christmas through scripture. Our boys love to fight over who gets to hang these!

You don’t have to be Christmas crazy like me, you don't have to use every single resource listed. Heck, you don’t have to use any at all. But, what you do have the responsibility of doing is teaching your littles to focus everything we do this season around the reason we celebrate it at all - Jesus. He truly is the reason for the season.
So grab one of these resources or just simply read through the Christmas story each day. But, whatever you do, remember that Christ was born and anticipate that He's coming back again!
Make sure your littles know this, to the depths of their souls, more then anything else.
Happy Advent!
